AROUND HERE LATELY

Hello there.
Life has been busy, been good and a little overwhelming all at the same time.

So much has been going on around here. As many of you would know, Masters Home Improvements is closing its doors. That means many job losses including my sons. There are currently so many people out of work here in Mackay that finding work is more than difficult, so with the lack of job unavailability my boy is moving back home, and I cant wait. Selfish maybe but I am excited for his return.

I celebrated my forty second birthday last month, and I am still unsure where all the years have gone.
I love celebrating a birthday, being surrounded by family, its completely invigorating.

With the weather warming up, trips to the beach are happening again. How I love the salt air and sand between my toes, my go to happy place.

Hubby and I took time out this weekend to go look at land for sale. It has been a dream of ours to live on a small property just our of town, to live a clean and natural life away from the bustle of town. It is still just a dream though, but one that we will not let go of just yet.

Its already getting hot and humid here, I must be the only one who is not looking forward to summer. I miss living where you experience all four seasons. I do love where we live, who wouldn't, it just seems the summers are getting longer and hotter every year, or maybe its because I am getting older. Whatever it is I thank my lucky stars for our swimming pool and air conditioner.

beck xx

  1. Not the only one- I hate the heat and humidity- summer in sydney was much nicer. Gorgeous photos. Love all that nature and water.

    1. The humidity is a killer Deb. The plus side to living where we do is beautiful places to visit and photograph. Hope summer is kind to us this year x

  2. Beck I am dreading the summer heat and humidity too, and I'm not in Mackay! Did I ever tell you the hubster grew up near there - on a cane farm at Alligator Creek, on the way to Sarina. All the best for your boy's job hunting - we have been through that with our kids too. Mr 22 went to uni this year after 6 months unemployed last year; it was so disheartening for him when he was job hunting. Mind you he was trying to make the switch from hospitality to admin and at 21 with no office experience we weren't surprised but you just can't tell them at that age!

    Visiting today from #teamIBOT x

    1. It's such a small world Janet :)
I love the warm weather but the humidity here nearly killed me last year. My boy has an interview today and one on Friday, so we have our fingers crossers. I hope your son is enjoying uni xx

  3. I like your dream! I would love that too. Sorry to hear about the job losses for your son (and the town). I think the closure of Masters has had a big impact for many smaller towns. x

  5. Happy belated birthday! I'm a big fan of birthdays too - hope this trip around the sun is your best yet! Having lived most of my life in the UK almost freezing my bits off, I try not to complain about the heat down under although every year summer rolls around and I'm surprised just how hot it gets! Praise be to the air conditioner that's what I say. Hope your son gets a job soon, in the meantime, enjoy having him home :)

  7. You are not the only one who is not looking forward to summer! I don't like summer! It is too hot for me here in Brisbane. I like winter - very mild here and perfect for me. Beautiful photo's Bec ... and don't give up on your dream! :-) xo

Winter here is my favourite too. Even if we only get a few weeks of it xx

  8. I do hope your son is able to find work really quickly. It must be a difficult time for him. I love summer! I spent 12 months living in Innisfail and loved the heat. Happy birthday!

    1. Fingers crossed one of his interviews this week is a winner.
If I could turn the humidity down a notch or two then summer would be my favourite season. xx
